Bobbi Ray PicWhat’s something unique to working for Williams-Sonoma?

When I joined Williams-Sonoma, I didn’t know I’d be working for their five different brands. Being in internal audit, we cover all brands so we get to see the different ways each of the brands is working. It’s really interesting to see the whole creative side at work and see everything that goes into each individual brand.

What’s the best part of your job?

Other than the discounts, what’s really cool about working for Williams-Sonoma is that I get to do store audits. I travel and visit stores to grade them based on how they answer my questions. [My visit] is a surprise – they know we could potentially show up, but they never know when we’re coming.

How do you use your Protiviti experience in your current role?

Because of my RHI experience, my team looks to me for better ways to do things, like formatting our work papers or audit programs. We’re expanding globally right now. We’ve opened franchises to test different marketing and for our company-owned locations, we are starting to figure out different ways to audit based on what is compliant there and here. This is all kind of new and foreign to my team, but my experience with global business has definitely helped me build an audit program as we start auditing stores overseas.

What was the highlight of your time at Protiviti?

I moved to San Francisco to work for Protiviti so when I started, I didn’t have a lot of friends. I met a lot of my really close friends at work that I still keep in contact with today. I also came from real estate, so I was new to audit but Protiviti was great at training. It was a huge transition, but one that I enjoyed doing.
